SPL: DUNFERMLINE 3 DUNDEE UNITED 3: 04/10/97

BINGO AS DAVE MAKES IT ALL THE THREES

Into the team came the Brazilian born, Portuguese midfielder Sergio Duarte, currently on trial at East End Park. Based on the steady performance in this game from Duarte the Pars management will be trying to sign him as soon as possible because he is clearly better than anyone else that Dunfermline can field in midfield.

Three nil at half time because of non existent defending. The wind came to our rescue in the second half and could have won the three points after Dave Bowman was sent off for a second bookable offence with twelve minutes left to play. SMITH headed in a Den Bieman cross after 64 minutes; then Hamish FRENCH rattled one in from 20 yards off the underside of the post. Dave BINGHAM got a scrambled equaliser with ten minutes remaining. Gerry Britton had a great chance to score after that but the Pars had to settle for a draw and two points dropped to a United team still looking for its first league victory of the season.

A spirited second half revival but the defence will have to be better marshalled for the next match against Celtic and the following three Premier games all against teams above us in the League - Rangers, Hearts and Celtic.
